Pilates Is Not A One Size Fits All Program

Pilates is a great form of post or co-rehabilitation  when done properly. 

There are many Pilates studios out there.  How do you choose which one is right for you? 

Every Pilates studio claims  to help create long lean muscles and of course strengthen the core.  The question is, how exactly do they go about achieving maximum results? 

Finding the right teacher is imperative to clients with injuries, past or present, limited mobility issues, post-natal care and for any client who wants to avoid injury from in proper teaching methods.  Many studios do you not require teachers have a certification, and a certification doesn’t necessarily mean that the teacher is qualified to handle special populations or prevent healthy clients from  sustaining injuries.   Many studios have a one size fits all program of open classes teaching the “order“ to all clients regardless of individual needs or goals.

Body Manipulation  specializes in retaining the Pilates method while individualizing programs based on specific needs. Offering private sessions is the ideal way to get maximum results without throwing a person into a generic class environment.  Body Manipulation takes time to watch and move the body based on teacher evaluation of the individual. Progress takes time and is only rewarded through mastering the fundamentals of the pre-Pilates workout.  Creating a solid foundation of movement is paramount for getting needed or desired results in a safe friendly environment. 

Taking time to explain the movement and the necessity of each exercise can be laborious. Clients must be committed to the work in order to have the best quality of life.   Patience  is required, and motivation is offered so as clients can enjoy their progress.   A minimum of two days a week is recommended for maximum results. 

If you are happy with your current program that’s great! If you want to take your workout to the next level, do your research.  Find a teacher who is qualified to get you the results you have been wanting. 

Remember Pilates doesn’t have to be a one size fits all program. Invest in yourself to live a pain-free better quality of life.
